Experience
Mitchell is a trial lawyer who represents business entities, municipalities, and individuals in commercial, business, and employment-related litigation in state and federal courts around the country. In addition to his jury and bench trial experience, Mitchell represents clients in arbitrations, mediations, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. Mitchell also represents clients in employment discrimination, hostile work environment, and sexual harassment claims in United States District Courts, state courts, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Illinois Department of Human Rights, and the Cook County Commission on Human Relations.
Mitchell is also a business law counselor highly skilled in providing pragmatic legal advice to businesses concerning day-to-day business and employment-related issues for the purpose of avoiding litigation. Mitchell regularly counsels clients on the preparation and enforcement of restrictive employment covenants, employee discipline and terminations, employee policy handbooks, reductions in force, affirmative action plans, wage and hour (overtime) issues, Family and Medical Leave Act, and accommodating disabled employees.
