Joseph LaPlaca is a graduate of the UIC John Marshall Law School, practicing all facets of commercial law.
As a law clerk at Levin Ginsburg, Joe gained valuable experience in a wide variety of commercial practice areas, including litigation and corporate. Joe focuses on protecting LG’s clients, both businesses and individuals, with legal foresight and practical problem-solving solutions. As a law clerk, Joe worked on a broad range of commercial matters including contract disputes, landlord-tenant claims, business torts, non-compete and non-solicitation disputes, and misappropriation of confidential information cases. As a law student, Joe earned the top grade in his Real Estate Transactions class, served as a legal writing assistant, and competed and placed nationally on several Moot Court, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Arbitration teams. Joe was a member of the Moot Court Honors Council and, just prior to joining Levin Ginsburg, externed for the Honorable Judge Melissa A. Durkin of the Circuit Court of Cook County.

Currently, Joe is an Associate Board member of the Face the Future Foundation, a member of the Justinian Society of Lawyers and a member of the Illinois State Bar Association.
Joe obtained his undergraduate degree from Denison University with a Bachelor of Arts in History. While there Joe walked on and was eventually named captain of the Denison University Baseball team. He is also a 2018 Chicago Marathon finisher.
